United Airlines Expands North American Network: New Routes and Destinations (2026)

In an exciting development for travelers, United Airlines is set to enhance its North American network with the introduction of 14 new routes during the Northern summer season of 2026. This expansion was announced over the weekend following the schedule update on January 15, 2026. Here’s a closer look at what passengers can expect from these additions.

One prominent new connection will be the route from Chicago O'Hare to Cody, which will operate weekly from May 22 to September 19, 2026, utilizing an Embraer E175 aircraft, a service last offered until September 2021. Additionally, Denver will see a new daily flight to Albany, NY starting April 30, 2026, operated by a Boeing 737-800, while another weekly service to Bangor will commence on June 27, 2026.

The Denver and Chattanooga route is also noteworthy, with a planned weekly service from May 23 to August 8, 2026, again using the Embraer E175. Other interesting routes include the Houston to Burlington, Vermont route, which will also operate weekly from May 23 to August 8, 2026, on an Embraer E175, this time through Mesa Airlines.

Houston will add a daily flight to Hartford effective May 21, 2026, reviving a route that was last available until September 2022. The Spokane route from Houston is set for a weekly operation from May 23 to August 8, 2026, utilizing an Airbus A319.

On the West Coast, Los Angeles will introduce a daily flight to Columbus, Ohio starting March 29, 2026, onboard a Boeing 737-800. The Kansas City route will also return with a daily flight beginning April 6, 2026, aboard an Embraer E175, marking its first service since January 1991. Furthermore, flights to Pittsburgh will be available daily from March 29, 2026, initially on the 737 MAX 9 and switching to a 737-800 from May 21, 2026, after a hiatus since August 2014.

For those traveling to the Northeast, both Los Angeles and San Francisco will offer a weekly service to Portland, Maine starting June 27, 2026, featuring the 737 MAX 8.

Notably, Washington Dulles will expand its offerings with a weekly flight to Halifax from May 23 to August 19, 2026, operated by an Embraer E175, a service that has not been in operation since September 2014. Additionally, a new weekly route to Quebec City will begin on May 23, running until October 24, 2026, also on the Embraer E175.

Previously announced route expansions include a variety of new destinations from Chicago O'Hare. These include Clarksburg, Eugene, Idaho Falls, Kearney, and more, with several routes resuming after several years of absence.
